Haddon Hall

Playing Jenga

Sunday August 17, 2014

Haddon Hall has stood on this site since Norman times. It has been the spot for several movies like The Princess Bride,  Pride and Prejudice, The Other Boleyn Girl, Jane Eyre, and Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall. From 1703 the family resided at Belvoir Castle leaving Haddon to slumber for more than two centuries. The ninth duke of Rutland returned to Haddon in the 1920’s making it a family home once more.

When we went it was family weekend. In the castle they had face painting, dressing up in costumes, playing games like large Jenga and ringtoss. In the basement in the Kitchen you could make your own sugar mice. Read my next post to find the yummy recipe. It was the first time Haddon Hall has done the Kids weekend and it was great.

A beautiful day at Haddon Hall

You also can go explore the gardens or have a picnic. Don’t forget to explore the church:)
