We learned so much at the Churchill War Rooms getting to see where he worked and lived during WWII from 1939-1944. These rooms were secret and housed Churchill and his top officers. This is the place they made the strategic plans of the war. We got to see the map room, where they had layer out troop movements on pins on the maps. Almost the entire map was covered with pin holes.
There is also a museum to Commemorate Churchill. One quote that stuck with me, that Churchill said was “We are all worms. But I do believe that I am a glowworm.” He really was!
There were sleeping rooms for Churchill, his commanders, typists, etc. They worked 15 hour days during the war effort. They said Churchill liked to be seen on the streets though so people would know see him and be reassured. I thought it was interesting that after the war they basically just turned off the lights and went back to their normal lives. So, most things are in the place that they left them.
