Westminster Abbey

Monday August 25, 2014

Since the crowning of William the Conqueror here in 1066, the Abbey has been the nation’s Coronation Church. The most resent was Queen Elizabeth in 1953. You can even see the coronation chair in an exhibit. It is also the burial and memorial place for many famous historical figures from the last thousand years of British history.

Prince William and Kate Middleton – The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were married here in 2011.

Many famous funerals have been held here like the funeral of Princess Diana, Princess of Wales and the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

I saw the tomb stone of Thomas Parr. He was the oldest man in the world he lived to be 153 years old.  He died in 1635 and lived through 190 princes.
