1.Founder Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout Troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia.
2.Today, there are 2.8 million Girl Scouts—2 million girl members and 800,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.
3.Girls at home and abroad participate in troops and groups in more than 92 countries.
4.Every female astronaut who has flown in space is a Girl Scout alumna.
5.Fourteen of the 20 women (70 percent) in the US Senate are Girl Scout alumnae.
6.Girl Scout Katie Francis, a 12-year-old from Oklahoma, broke the all-time cookie sales record during the 2014 season, selling 21,477 boxes of cookies!!!
7.The sale of commercially baked Girl Scout cookies began in the 1930s.
8.The highest award in Girl Scouting is the Girl Scout Gold Award. When she was still living, Juliette Gordon Low personally presented each recipient with the award.
9.Elizabeth Brinton, often called the “Cookie Queen”, holds the record for selling the most Cookies during her days as a Scout. During her monarchy, she sold more than 100,000 boxes, with clients that included Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Sandra Day O’Connor.
10.Little Brownie bakes over 4.5 million Thin Mints per day during peak baking times.
