Sanibel Island, Florida · Vacation

Back to Mother Nature

Part of the island of Sanibel is devoted to wildlife. One half is beaches and restaraunts and the other half is a nature reserve. That is one thing I love about Sanibel compared to other islands, it is focused on nature and keeping it “natural” rather than building motels every 1000 feet. Sanibel feels more homely than other islands nearby. The half of the island that is a nature reserve is called  J.N “Ding” Darling.  It is a national wildlife refuge that people can visit. We had the chance to take a guided tram tour of the area. It was an hour and a half and was $50 for 5 of us. It was very interesting and I learned a lot about wildlife and trees. You can also take the tour by bike or car. I saw many types of birds and even a seal! Some lucky people can even spot an alligator! I couldn’t believe all the beauty and that it’s in florida!
